April - Kick Butts Day
This is an annual nation-wide initiative that makes young people leaders in the effort to stop youth tobacco use. It is a celebration of youth advocacy, leadership, and activism. All across the country, youth organize events to raise awareness on tobacco issues.
The event is sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

May - World No Tobacco Day
This is the only global event established to call attention to the impact of tobacco use on public health and reduce individual tobacco dependence. A spirit of worldwide cooperation is the best chance for stamping out tobacco-related death and disease and working towards a tobacco free world.

No Tobacco Day Walk at Independence Grove in Libertyville. There is no
charge to participate, and those who pre-register are entered in a

- Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is a nationwide celebration and a major force for
raising public awareness to combat alcohol, drug and tobacco use among
youth. Over 80 million young people and adults will show their commitment
to a healthy, drug-free life by wearing or displaying red

November - Great American Smokeout
The American Cancer Society holds the Great American Smokeout the third Thursday of every November to help smokers quit cigarettes for at least one day, in hopes they will quit forever.
